This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use WordSmart HQ ("the Service", accessible at wordsmarthq.com) and how it is used. WordSmart HQ is operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom. By using the Service you agree to this policy.

The short version

WordSmart HQ does not require an account and does not ask you for personal details. The tools run in your browser. We do not sell your data, do not send marketing emails, and do not build user profiles. The only data involved is standard website logs and the cookies used to show adverts, both explained below.

Information we collect

Information you enter into the tools. Text you type or paste into a tool (such as words to count, letters to unscramble, or a word to define) is processed to return your result. For the rhyme and dictionary tools, the word is sent to the third-party Datamuse API to fetch results. We do not store the content you enter.

Usage and log data. Like most websites, our hosting may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and the date and time of your visit. This is used for security, troubleshooting and understanding general usage. It is not used to identify you personally.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies for two purposes: to remember your cookie-consent choice, and to display adverts through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve and measure adverts, and (with your consent) to personalise them based on your browsing.

Where required by law, non-essential cookies (including advertising cookies) are only set after you accept them using the cookie banner shown on your first visit. Datamuse API - the rhyme and dictionary tools send the word you enter to Datamuse to return results.
Google AdSense - serves the adverts that keep WordSmart HQ free.
Our hosting provider - serves the website and may keep standard server logs.

We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their practices.

Your rights (UK & EU GDPR)

If you are in the UK or EU, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, request its deletion, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw consent for cookies at any time. Because we do not hold accounts or personal profiles, in most cases there is little personal data tied to you, but you can contact us to make any request. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk).

Data retention

We do not store the text you enter into the tools. Any technical log data kept by our hosting provider is retained only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. Cookie data is governed by the policies of the provider that set it (for advertising cookies, Google).

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.

Our Service may link to websites we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date, and take effect once posted.
